Hypnotherapy is
Clinical & Therapeutic Hypnosis
The therapy in the word HYPNOTHERAPY is actually... hypnosis. It is the hypnotherapist's ability to help you deeply relax and go into a state of trance or therapeutic hypnosis.
HYPNOTHERAPY IS NOT a stage show or magic. It is not Stage Hypnosis. Movies and TV have often portrayed hypnosis in ridiculous ways. It’s important that people know that no one can be hypnotized without their consent, nor can they be coerced under hypnosis to do something they would not do in any other setting.
"Hypnosis is NOT mind control. It’s a naturally occurring state of concentration; It’s actually a means of enhancing your control over both your mind and your body—over perceptions such as pain, anxiety, habits, stress."
Dr. David Spiegel, Stanford University School of Medicine
Clinical & Therapeutic Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind to change unwanted habits and behaviors. We will gently address your unique issues and discover solutions together to create positive changes. Therapeutic hypnosis allows the individual to experience a deep state of relaxation for the body & mind while remaining aware and in control at all times. Hypnotherapy has long been known as a beneficial, evidence-based solution for stress, habit control, and self-improvement as well as pain management and reduction of symptoms and side effects.
"Contrary to how hypnosis is sometimes portrayed, you don’t lose control over your behavior while under hypnosis. You generally remain aware of and remember what happens under hypnosis."

Light Induced Guided Healing Therapy
Researched at UCSD
Light-Induced Guided Healing Therapy (LIGHT) is a research-backed self-care protocol that implements a hybrid of hypnosis and guided imagery to promote self-efficacy.
Minimum of 6 Sessions
Sessions are 75-90 minutes
Online or In-Person
$155 per session
The first pilot study to test the efficacy of LIGHT was commenced at UC San Diego in 2011. The results were peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine in February 2018. [Link to the Publication]
The researchers then named the protocol Healing Light Guided Imagery (HLGI), which has since been renamed Light-Induced Guided Healing Therapy (LIGHT). The study participants reported a 75% decrease in depressed mood, a 24% decrease in fatigue, a 38% increase in physical quality of life, and a 30% increase in mental quality of life.
A second pilot study was conducted at the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience using EEG to observe what transpired in the participants’ brains while experiencing the protocol. [Link to the Publication] The researchers observed that a broad network of brain systems became increasingly engaged as individuals progressed through the visualization sequence. Notably, in the central and occipital regions, power in the theta (4 – 7 Hz) and alpha (8 – 12 Hz) range declines during post-session relative to pre-session rest baseline.
